There are no roads between these islands. A tour links the sights scattered across the archipelago — time on the water, and time off it.

Arborek & Dampier Strait
1–1.5
hr from Waisai
Arborek jetty snorkeling, Manta Sandy, Friwen Wall. The easiest to reach and the most reliable for snorkeling and mantas.
Piaynemo
2–2.5
hr from Waisai
The star-lagoon karst viewpoint and Telaga Bintang — a similar layered-island view to Wayag, much closer in.
Wayag
4–6
hr from Waisai
The postcard image of Raja Ampat: remote karst clusters and lagoon kayaking. Far north, and a long, fuel-heavy open-water crossing.
Wayag is rarely sold as a single day trip. The crossing is long and fuel-heavy, and an operator offering it in a day is not being straight with you about the sea time.
Day trip or multi-day?
A day trip is enough to taste Raja Ampat. A multi-day trip is what lets you reach Wayag and the better reefs without rushing.
A day trip suits limited time and a base near Waisai: leave in the morning, hit two or three nearby sites, back by late afternoon. It is the lower-cost option and covers Arborek, Piaynemo or a snorkeling loop.
Three to five days is how you reach Wayag and slow the pace — either a daily speedboat back to a homestay each night, or a liveaboard where you sleep on board. It costs more, but it spreads the long transfers instead of cramming them into one day.

Inclusions differ between operators, so confirm in writing before you pay. The permit is the one fixed cost worth planning for: around IDR 1,000,000 for foreign visitors as of June 2026, set by the regional authority and subject to change.
