About us

Who You Are Booking With

An independent operator organising island-hopping and snorkeling trips across Raja Ampat. We do not own a fleet or pretend to be a resort chain — we book licensed local boats and handle the planning, permits and logistics.

Talk to Us

In short

Raja Ampat Boat Tour is a small independent operator that builds each itinerary in direct contact with the people who own the boats and know the reefs.

  • Not a marketing front for a single resort
  • Not an offshore reseller stacking margin on a booking site
  • Based on the Raja Ampat archipelago, Southwest Papua
  • Prices date-stamped, sightings never promised

How the partnership actually works

We work with a roster of licensed local boat owners and certified guides based around Waisai and nearby villages — Sawinggrai, Arborek, Kri. When you book, we match your group size, route and budget to the right boat and crew from that roster.

That matters for two reasons. The income from your trip flows to Papuan boat owners and guides rather than a distant head office. And the guides grew up on these waters: a guide from Arborek knows which bommie holds wobbegongs and when the current at Cape Kri turns. That local knowledge is the actual product.

We are transparent that this is a coordination role. We do not claim crew, certifications or awards that belong to someone else. When a guide holds a specific licence or first-aid certification, that credential is theirs, and we will tell you whose it is if you ask.

The vessels you ride are owned and captained by local partners. We are an independent operator, not the boat owner, and we would rather say that here than have you discover it at the jetty.

What you will not find here

Trust matters more than polish, so here is what we have deliberately left off this site.

  • No invented reviews

No five-star counts or ratings we cannot substantiate.

  • No fake badges

No "as featured in" logos and no awards we did not win.

  • No guaranteed wildlife

Mantas at Manta Sandy and reef sharks at the cleaning stations are common, not promised.

  • No "best of your life"

That is not ours to guarantee.

Our regional content is edited by Putu Hendra Wijaya, a Bali-based travel writer who has spent more than a decade covering eastern Indonesia's marine destinations. We name a single editor on purpose — travel content is full of anonymous, recycled copy, and we would rather you knew who stands behind the words.

Where we work

The areas we run trips across

Most routes are built around the four main islands and the reefs between them.

Dampier Strait

The channel between Waigeo and Batanta — Cape Kri, Mike's Point, Sardine Reef. Day-trip range from Kri and Waisai.

Wayag

The karst lagoon in the far northwest. A longer multi-day trip, because of the distance.

Misool

The southern cluster, known for soft-coral walls and lagoons. Multi-night arrangements.

Penemu & the Fams

The Piaynemo viewpoint and the snorkeling sites around it. A popular mid-range route.

Village stays

Homestays on Kri, Arborek and Gam that we can fold into an itinerary.

Start with your dates

Message us with your travel dates, group size, and what you most want to see — mantas, the Wayag viewpoint, quiet snorkeling off a village homestay. We reply with an honest assessment of what fits your time and budget, and the trade-offs involved.
