Raja Ampat Boat Tour is an independent boat-tour operator that organizes island-hopping and snorkeling trips across Raja Ampat, West Papua. We do not own a fleet or pretend to be a resort chain. We are a small, independent travel operator focused on one place: the Raja Ampat archipelago in Indonesia’s Southwest Papua province. We are not a marketing front for a single resort, and we are not an offshore reseller stacking margins on top of a third-party booking site. We build each itinerary ourselves, in direct contact with the people who own the boats and know the reefs.
Most of what makes Raja Ampat special is also what makes it hard to plan from abroad. Boat departures shift with weather and tide. Marine park entry permits, the Pelni ferry schedule from Sorong to Waisai, and the seasonal windows for sites like Wayag and Misool all move around. Our job is to absorb that complexity and hand you a plan that actually holds together on the day.
A few things we want to be plain about, because trust matters more than polish:
- We are an independent operator, not the boat owner. The vessels you ride are owned and captained by local partners.
- We date-stamp our prices. Figures quoted on this site are accurate as of June 2026 and are subject to change with fuel, permits, and season.
- We do not guarantee specific wildlife sightings. Manta rays at Manta Sandy and reef sharks at the cleaning stations are common, not promised.
How does the partnership model with local boat owners work?
We work with a roster of licensed local boat owners and certified guides based around Waisai, the regency capital on Waigeo, and nearby villages such as Sawinggrai, Arborek, and Kri. When you book a trip, we match your group size, route, and budget to the right boat and crew from that roster.
This matters for two reasons. First, the income from your trip flows to Papuan boat owners and guides rather than to a distant head office. Second, the guides we work with grew up on these waters. A guide from Arborek knows which bommie holds wobbegongs and when the current at Cape Kri turns. That local knowledge is the actual product.

We name a single editor on purpose. Travel content is full of anonymous, recycled copy, and we would rather you know who stands behind the words. Where does Raja Ampat Boat Tour operate?
We organize trips across the core of the Raja Ampat archipelago, with most routes built around the four main islands and the reefs between them. Our common operating areas include:
- Dampier Strait — the channel between Waigeo and Batanta, home to Cape Kri, Mike’s Point, and Sardine Reef, reachable as day trips from Kri and Waisai.
- Wayag — the iconic karst lagoon in the far northwest, usually run as a longer multi-day trip because of the distance.

Most travelers reach us by flying into Sorong (SOQ), then taking the public ferry across to Waisai on Waigeo. We can advise on that connection and on the marine park entry permit, though the permit fee itself is set and collected by the local authority, not by us.
